It is a gas discharge light source. The lamp, filled with high pressure xenon, can be excited by a high voltage and irradiate a strong and continuous spectra from ultraviolet to visible.
The main part of this lamp power supply is a switching power supply, providing a constant current to the xenon lamp. It has high efficiency and low thermal power.
When lamp power supply are connected with the lamp box via cables and turned on, it provides a DC voltage of 60V to the xenon lamp (made in Geramany). High voltage starter generates an instant high voltage of 25KV which breaks down the xenon gas inside the lamp tube. The voltage across the lamp drops down rapidly. After the process of current limiting and transition from constant voltage to constant current, the lamp reaches a stable situation.
Control loop circuit is used to detect the output voltage and current of the switch power supply and performs the function of initiating the high voltage starter, current limiting and over current protection, thus supplying a stable working current to the lamp.

Notice
1. To protect your eyes, do not stare at the xenon lamp while it is working.
2. Occasionally the lamp might not be lit when the ambient temperature is low, try it for several times and the interval is about 20     seconds at least.
3. A short discharge noise is normal when the power supply is turned on
4. It needs warming up for stable output.
